I figure the admins on other boards have questions asked all the time on how to do things on Proboards message boards. So, I think I'll post some tutorials, as I think of them, here, or you suggest them. One of the most common questions I get asked is: "How do you post YouTube videos?"Well, here's how: See that YouTube button (left most on the second line) when you reply to something? Click that and it will come up with a [.youtube][/.youtube] code (minus the "." of course.. ) In between the first "Youtube" closed bracket and the second "Youtube" open bracket you place part of the viewing URL. Now for instance you you have a URL that's ..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuuvweMeym0... (again, minus the "." )... Well you copy everything that's after the "v=" in the link. So you're code would look like this: [..youtube]fuuvweMeym0[/youtube..] And your video will show up like this: Questions?

Another question I get is: How do I put photos in a post? Another good one. Goto your favorite pic hosting site and look at the codes for a pic. There are 4 on Photobucket. I am using that as the example. The Email & IM code, the Direct Link code (which if you ask me are the same thing... ), the HTML Code and the IMG Code The E-mail & IM code are just what it says. You use these links in, well, E-mail and IM's. An example is : s53.photobucket.com/albums/g80/Hawke53051/Sci-Fi/?action=view¤t=BattlestarGalacticaoriginal.jpgIt's just a clickable link. Same thing with a Direct link. It looks the same & does the same thing. It's purpose is to link easier on social networking sites and message boards, IMO. Next is the one that web designers like to use when coding websites. HTML code. Here's an example: <a href="http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g80/Hawke53051/Sci-Fi/?action=view¤t=BattlestarGalacticaoriginal.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g80/Hawke53051/Sci-Fi/BattlestarGalacticaoriginal.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> Here's the photo in question (non-clickable) when it works properly: More often than not the html code doesn't work on message boards. It DOES work best in javascripting. That's why I prefer the code below. Now there's a trick here in editing the html to make the image clickable to goto a page of your choosing.. Where it says "a href=" and then the link, you edit that link to goto the page you want it to. And the photo will display like normal. And then there's my favorite the IMG Code!!! This is the easiest code of all to do. See that little pic icon on the bottom row, 4th one in when you reply to something? That puts this code in [.img][./img] (minus the "." again...) Now with PhotoBucket they automatically put that in for you to post stuff. It's just a matter of copying and pasting. But if you want to link something that's not on PhotoBucket you hit that pic icon and copy & paste the link in between the first closed bracket and the second open bracket. Like this: and here's what it looks like when it works: Questions?

Another question I get is:
How do I add my own avatar?
First you need a Photobucket account or a similar photo hosting account. Next, you head into your board profile and you click "Modify Profile". Then you slide down to where you see the Avatar section. In the case of this particular board, there are many to choose from thanks to Athene. Just click on one of them, put the size as (but no larger than) 100 X 100 (height X width) and save it. You can make it smaller than 100 X 100. But not larger, because Proboards doesn't allow that and it does stretch the board a bit more if you do make it larger. If you want to use one of your own, do the same upto selecting one of the board avatars. Keep the slider at "none". Then head over to your photo account, (in this case it will be Photobucket) and pic a pic you want. Use the Direct Link code (see above in this thread about what the different types of Photobucket codes are) and link the code to the board, in your board profile, where it says "avatar URL". Paste the code. Put the size at 100 X 100. And save it.
