Hello all my stella students!!
We last left off discussing etiquette and some points in protocol, well Ladies and Lords, today's lesson is going to probe a little further into our behaviour.
I cannot stress enough that a true Siress/Sire BEHAVES like a Siress or Sire. Allow me to draw a rule of thumb.
We nobles are always in the eyes of the public, and as soon as we step out of our private quarters we are on duty! So be mindful of these things and you are surely on the right path at all times.
Consider yourselves most fortunate to have been blessed with such grace and charm. You wouldn't be sitting here, in this instructional room if you didn't have a secret feeling deep inside that you are special. That's what brought you here, so that you too may learn the art of drawing out your inner Siress/Sire, and go out into the universe and live fully the life you know you were meant to!
So without further ado, use your greatest assets to their utmost effect and lead by example.
* Thinking of others:
When we perform small favours for our loved ones, it can bring you as much pleasure as it does for the other person. So be thoughtful.
Often when someone sends us a message or letter; makes a comment/compliment ; or perhaps direct personal communica via handset ; a greeting (either electronic or maybe they've delightfully picked out a beautiful card or made one for you), they are in truth looking to feel connected with you.
So be a responder and return the thought with appreciation and gratitude. If you are at the centon, short on time, be sure to send a simple response promptly and promise to get back to them more at a convenient time. This lets the other person know you appreciate and acknowledge their communica, thus meeting the bids of all our emotional needs to strengthen our connections to one another. It's what we call human streaming! Our society and community can greatly benefit when we breed such harmonious behaviour. Respond!
*Take the Lead:
When I was a young girl, I once suffered from feeling out of place many times, until someone kind enough invited me into their circle. What a difference this makes!
If you see someone looking and feeling a little out of place, include them in your circle. People who are shy just need a friendly smile and warm welcome to get them on the right track to feeling comfortable and confident to be themselves.
They'll always be thankful to you for it. It's a wonderful feeling to know we might have helped someone in a positive way, for this is the only way we should influence others. So be your best possible self!
*Gossip, NEVER!
Have you ever been at the centre of a rumour or idle gossip? I know I have in my life at least once. The feeling you have is that it definitely doesn't make you happy when you hear the unkind and untrue words someone is saying about you.
Ask yourself, would you be happy to repeat what you are saying to the person's face that you are gossiping about ? I hardly think any of you would do such a thing anyway, and if you answered "no" to my question, then you will surely know and understand that it is best to keep any gossip you may hear to yourself.
*Be Assertive
Being a Siress/Sire means you claim your own power. But this does not mean you lord around from one light cycle to the next, telling stewards which airlock they can let themselves out of, just because they piqued you by being impolite to you with your whimsical request of sending up an order to your quarters of a "Medium-Rare done Earth Ovine steak" .
Indeed no, this not a noble way of conduct. (And besides...that steward just needs to grow a sense of humour anyway!)
Getting back to the lesson at hand(e-hem ;D...). You will from time to time encounter the occasional jealous, unhappy person who may be rude to you.
As a noble, we never lower ourselves to the other person standards. We expect others to rise up to meet ours, for when others loose it, we are the ones who find it and keep it.
Our response to such unpleasant souls, must always be firm but kind. Our hope is that they will see there are other ways to behave. If a person continues to taunt you, they are just looking to get the response alike to their own level of mentality, so show them that this is below you, and never satisfy them by responding in a way that you may regret deeply later.
Think of the way you wish for others to see you, and know you. If you add to a situation with a difficult person by behaving no better than they, then you will have missed the point of your position in society. Set an example. A noble behaves nobly.
Some of you may wonder in the case of moments when we feel we want to say a improper word or curse. I quite agree that even I have had moments like this and there is really nothing to be done but to say an indelicate word to get it out of my system. And so I have compiled a list of noble curses that are considered just about acceptable for any Siress or Sire.
Dash it and Diadems!
Curses and Cubits!
Oh Bother and Borays!
Great Nova of Madagon!
Quarreling Quorum!
Of course, it is excusable if a noble, on a very bad day, uses the curse words more commonly used among the Colonials, but it is best done behind closed doors of one's own quarters. Holy Frack, is that the time already??!!!!!! here I am waffling on and on and I've got to get to a council meeting! Felgercarb!!!
Er...um...pretend you didn't hear any of that. ;D
Keep up the good work everyone!!
